Characteristics
It resembles the walnut, but is slightly sweeter. Besides the fact that this nut is also full of good fats, the pecan nut excels in the high content of zinc and vitamin B1. One 25 gram handful of pecan nuts contains a quarter of the daily recommended amount of zinc. Zinc is necessary for the growth and development of tissue and the proper functioning of the immune system. Vitamin B1 is indispensable for the energy supply in the body. Vitamin B1 is very sensitive to sunlight and heating, so our advice: store pecans in a dark place and eat them raw!

Origin
This tasty nut grows in America and they are by far the largest and most important producer, but the pecan tree also grows in Israel, South Africa, Mexico and Australia. Like other nut trees, these trees have a harvest cycle of 2 years, once every two years there is a large harvest. Just like the walnut, there is a green bark around the nut, which opens when the fruit is ripe, then the brown nut emerges.

Application
The pecan nut has many uses, it is delicious raw to eat. But you often see this nut in cakes with caramel, for example, or use these nuts in a stew.

The unsaturated fats found in pecans are good for the brain. In addition, pecans contain a lot of vitamin B. This vitamin promotes brain function and helps memory.
